Ahmet Oral received his PhD in Physics from Bilkent University in 1994. Since 2013, he has been a Full Professor in Department of Physics, Middle East Technical University. His research interests include scanning probe microscopy: non-contact atomic force microscopy, scanning hall probe microscopy, and graphene hall sensors and devices. He is the recipient of TÜBİTAK Research and Encouragement Award (2002) and Research and Encouragement Award – Mustafa N. Parlar Foundation (1993). He has authored/coauthored more than 95 journal articles and book chapters. His publications have been cited more than 1500 times (H-index is 22) according to the Scopus database. Besides, he is also the founder of several nanotechnology-based companies, including NanoSis Ltd. (2005), NanoManyetik Bilimsel Cihazlar (1999) and NanoMagnetics Instruments Ltd. (1998)
