Permintaan Firma Terhadap Industri Tenaga Kerja Teknologi Maklumat dan Komunikasi di Malaysia

ABSTRAK

Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti permintaan firma terhadap tenaga kerja yang berkemahiran Teknologi Maklumat dan Komunikasi (ICT) dalam industri ICT di Malaysia. Data diperolehi menerusi borang soal selidik yang dihantar secara pos kepada pengurus sumber manusia atau pengurus atasan
syarikat. Sebanyak 138 orang responden telah memberikan respon. Hasil kajian menunjukkan permintaan terhadap pekerja ICT berbeza mengikut saiz firma dan kategori pekerjaan ICT. Beberapa kesukaran yang dihadapi oleh responden turut dapat dikenal pasti. Mengambil pekerja dengan kemahiran yang dikehendaki didapati adalah lebih sukar berbanding mengambil calon yang berpengalaman dan mempunyai personaliti yang berkualiti. Hasil kajian ini turut mendapati saiz firma mempunyai hubungan yang signifikan dengan permintaan tenaga kerja ICT. Seterusnya, implikasi kajian kepada pihak yang terlibat dalam penawaran sumber manusia dipasaran buruh turut dibincangkan bagi mengatasi masalah mismatch dan memenuhi keperluan gunatenaga ICT dalam negara pada masa hadapan.

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to identify the firms’ demand on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) workers of Malaysian ICT industry. Postal questionnaires were employed and sent to the human resource manager or top management of the firms. A total of 138 questionnaires were returned.
Findings showed that demand on ICT workers are varied according to the firms’ size and ICT job categories. Some difficulties faced by respondents also have been identified. Recruiting staff with preferred skills had caused firms more difficulty than recruiting candidates with appropriate experience and personal qualities. There is a statistically significant relationship between the firms’ size and demand on ICT workforce. Further, the implications of the findings to those involved in the supply of human resources in the labour market were discussed as to solve the mismatch problem and fulfill the
nation’s future needs of ICT workforce.
