Plant Genetics and Biotechnology.

Research interests:
Genetic diversity and breeding system studies of forest tree species using isozyme, RAPD, SSR, DAMD and AFLP markers; Assessment of genetic erosion of forest species due to logging and other forms of disturbances; Genetics of glyphosate resistance in Eleusine; Genetic effects of heavy metal pollutants on plants; Molecular biology of flowering in Calamus; Functional genomics of wood formation in Acacia hybrid; Characterization of yield genes in rice; QTL mapping in rice and Acacia hybrid; Production and assessment of Acacia hybrids; Molecular systematic studies of Dipterocarpaceae.
