The recent downgrading of Malaysian aviation safety rating by the FAA is affecting the industry. The ICAO re-evaluation of Malaysia’s safety oversight capabilities may get us into the “Significant Safety Concern (SSC)” status. These, plus possible similar action by international CAAs, may severely impact the development of Malaysian civil aviation industry. The forum aims at analysing the economic impacts of safety downgrading on the industry and the nation and, suggests for an industry-driven restructuring of the Malaysian Civil Aviation Industry. Views and recommendations fromindustry Captains will be presented to the Government.
