Professor Dr Samy Azer is an Australian physician, author, and medical academic, and editor. He is a gastroenterologist and honorary professor of medical education at King Saud University. He was the professor and the head of the curriculum at King Saud University College of Medicine, Saudi Arabia. He obtained a PhD from the University of Sydney, a Master’s in Education, and a Master’s in Public Health, both from the University of New South Wales, Australia. He has been a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology since 1995 (FACG) and the Royal Society of Medicine (FRSM). He was a Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney and the University of Melbourne. He is a visiting professor at the University of Toyama, Japan, a professor of medical Education and the chair of the medical education research and development unit at Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia. He is the author of five textbooks on Medicine and Medical Education. He is writing a significant textbook on Research Methods for Elsevier, New York, London, and Sydney. He is a Senior Editorial Board Member at BMC Medical Education and Health Professions Education, Elsevier. He is an editor at the World Journal of Gastrointestinal Oncology, USA. He is a Fellowship from the Association of Medical Education in Europe (FAMEE) for his global leadership in Medical Education.
