Research: Bone Metabolism
The bone metabolism group consists of lecturers and researchers from several Departments in the UKM Faculty of Medicine. Studies on bone metabolism include a wide range of osteoporosis caused by various diseases; among them osteoporosis associated with estrogen and testosterone deficiency, osteoporosis caused by smoking habits, metabolic syndrome and prolonged glucocorticoid treatment. Studies on bone metabolism use a wide range of animal models as well as tissue culture. The objective of the study is to find treatments for osteoporosis that mostly use natural products.
