PUTRAJAYA, 3rd October 2024 – The Halal Pharmaceutical Symposium (HPS) 2024 marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing efforts to advance the field of halal pharmaceuticals.
The symposium aimed at ensuring medicines and healthcare products comply with halal principles while meeting the highest standards of safety, efficacy, and quality.
Hosted by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in collaboration with Duopharma Berhad, the event unites industry leaders, researchers, and policymakers to push the boundaries of halal pharmaceutical science.
This year’s symposium highlights the successful partnership between UKM and Duopharma Berhad, beginning with the establishment of the Halal Pharmaceutical Business Initiatives (HPBI) in 2019.
According to Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dato Dr. Hanafiah Harunarashid, the initiative brings together experts from multiple disciplines, creating a comprehensive framework for research and innovation that addresses both technical and ethical aspects of halal pharmaceuticals.
“This collaboration has also led to the launch of the Halal Pharmapreneur Professional Certification Course, spearheaded by the Faculty of Pharmacy,” he added.
He noted that the halal pharmaceutical sector represents a growing and vital field within the broader healthcare landscape.
“It is driven by the increasing demand for products that align with the ethical, religious, and cultural values of diverse communities around the world.
“Our mission here is to address the unique challenges and opportunities within this sector, fostering an environment of innovation that respects these values while pushing the boundaries of scientific and technological advancement,” he said.
