Kuala Lumpur, 23 October 2023 – The 23rd Asia Pacific Industrial Engineering and Management System Conference (APIEMS 2023) was officially inaugurated in Kuala Lumpur, marking a significant gathering of academics and industry professionals from around the world.
The conference, which focuses on the theme “Industrial Engineering Empowering Business Sustainability,” aims to cultivate collaboration, excellence, and the exchange of industrial engineering knowledge among participants from various countries.
UKM Board of Directors Chairman, Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Mohamad Abd. Razak said that Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) is committed to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and internationalization makes it a valuable contributor to the higher education landscape in Malaysia and beyond.
He emphasized UKM’s support for conference activities bridging the gap between industry and academia.
“Through knowledge, research, and idea exchange, both scholars and professionals can push the boundaries of innovation, fostering solutions that have a global impact.
This collaboration not only offers real-world business experience to professionals and academics but also widens their skill sets, encompassing analytics, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and entrepreneurship skills,” he said.
He also elaborated on the Ministry of Higher Education’s commitment to research and innovation, designating UKM and four other public universities as research universities.
“These institutions are tasked with prioritizing research and innovation, thereby advancing knowledge through research activities.
“They are also expected to harness their intellectual capacity and serve as exemplars for Malaysian universities in advancing knowledge through research activities,” he said.
