BANGI, 26 July 2023 – The Asian Science Deans Summit (ASDS) brought together deans and administrators from science faculties at universities all over Asia in a three-day event.
The annual summit invites institutions to participate in a variety of discussions and sharing sessions aimed at improving the quality of education, research, and public engagement at their respective institutions.
Hosted by Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, this summit also allows participating universities to strengthen mobility programmes and develop networking opportunities with existing and new partners throughout Asia.
During the opening ceremony, FST signed Letters of Intent (LoI) with seven Indonesian higher education institutions to encourage future academic, research, and strategic collaboration.
Pro Vice-Chancellor Income Generation and Development, Prof. Dr. Norhamidi Muhamad said that this summit is hoped to maintain productive collaborations, particularly in the creation of long-lasting and enduring connections to support future research and innovation.
He added that topics covered in the summit will provide students with a high-quality learning and living experience centred on research, discovery, and innovation in a global context.
“I also hope that collaborative research in mutually beneficial areas will be strengthened, and that best practises in innovation and higher education will be shared. “As a result of this programme, we expect to see ground-breaking research and PhD programme structures emerge, as well as the possibility of awarding double degrees and other relevant credentials between national directors and students,” he said.
