BANGI, 21 March 2023 – Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) through Solar Energy Research Institute (SERI) collaborated with Verdant Solar Sdn. Bhd. to organise the ‘Green Home Low Investment for UKM Employees programme’.
The partnership is also aimed at disseminating new knowledge particularly in the field of renewable energy and the Net Energy Metering (NEM) programme, which allows electricity customers to use solar energy for domestic purposes.
Prof. Dato’ Dr. Roslee Rajikan, Pro Vice Chancellor (Strategy and Corporate Development) said that this will be done through a roadshow program, data collection and analysis of solar system installed, as well as identifying the impact of renewable energy technology on the community.
“Another impact that can result is collaboration in high-level research projects, publishing impactful writings from university and industry networks and providing inspiration especially to the UKM community.
“It is hope that this programme will gain the interest of the UKM’s community to support the government inspiration and to create a green and smart living with lower investment and high saving for a long-term commitment.
“This is the first programme of renewable energy in university which everyone can afford and also can save the profit individually.
“This collaboration also indicates the action taken by the university to promote the clean energy and research related to the smart energy metering using the NEM,” he said. He further explained that at the end of the programme, a total saving of the electricity and also the reduction of CO2 emissions by UKM’s community.
