BANGI, 15 November 2023 – The 8th International Conference on Visual Informatics (IVIC’23) recently concluded with the publication of selected papers in the Lecture Notes of Computer Science (LNCS): Advances in Visual Informatics Series by Springer-Verlag in Germany.
The signing ceremony was presided over by Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Industrial and Community Partnerships, Prof. Ts. Dato’ Dr. Norazah Mohd Nordin.
The conference, held under the theme ‘Leveraging on Innovations and Sustainability,’ showcased the latest advancements and trends in the realm of computer science and information and communication technology (ICT).
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Gs. Ts. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Ekhwan Hj Toriman expressed confidence in the benefits participants would derive from networking with experts in visual informatics.
He emphasized the significance of the highly specialized multidisciplinary field, stating that it integrates Artificial Intelligence in Computer Science and ICT from various countries.
“The rise of the digital economy, digital transformation, and Generative AI is exciting. I hope it inspires more sustainable Visual Informatics innovations.
“These innovations benefit governments, organizations, and citizens, changing the way we live and work.
They also contribute to creating an inclusive and sustainable society with common goals, fostering wealth and better well-being for all while bringing peace and prosperity to the world,” he said.
The IVIC 2023 conference, with its commitment to fostering collaborative endeavors and nurturing a global community of visionaries, served as a catalyst for accelerating research and development in visual informatics.
The event successfully bridged the gap between academia, industry, and technology enthusiasts, providing a platform for the exchange of ideas and the exploration of groundbreaking innovations in the field.
The closing ceremony also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UKM and Jamhuriya University of Science and Technology, Somalia, and Bina Darma University, Indonesia.
IVIC’23 is organized by the Visual Informatics Institute (IVI) in collaboration with the Malaysia Information Technology Society (MITS) and over 20 local and international institutions of higher learning.
