Programmed Goals:

One of the goals of this curriculum is to help students become more aware of societal issues, particularly those involving the elderly and other people who are less capable on a physical, emotional, and other level than younger people. Also, students have the chance to develop their identities in the areas of communication, self-assurance, and the capacity for teamwork and interpersonal interactions in the community. A programme like this can also help the government achieve its goal of turning out students who can take the initiative and lead in a variety of professions.

The Kaseh Embroidery Program for the Elderly 2.0 was organised by the LMCR1102 Service Volunteer Course through the Citra Studies Center of the National University of Malaysia (UKM) on May 28, 2022 in the Bandar Tun Razak neighbourhood (Saturday). There were 52 participants in all from the Service Volunteering course.

To assist the monitoring session, participants were also placed in small groups of three to five. This tiny group has been given access to a number of homes to visit and care for the elderly residents there. This can help students become more confident in their interactions, give them the strength to speak up, and help them learn how to evaluate the needs of the elderly. In order to meet the needs of the elderly and make them happy on subsequent visits, students were also requested to prepare a list of their wants.

In order for them to share experiences and discuss ideas, students are also given the chance to get to know one another. A few mementos were given to the Head of the Park/Project Head, the aforementioned committee, as well as to all the students participated by Advisor (1) and Course Coordinator Prof. Associate Professor Fazilah Binti Idris and Advisor (2) Dr. Wardah binti Mustafa Din at the conclusion of the programme.

The Sulam Kaseh 2.0 programme has been successful in fostering relationships between elderly people and multiethnic students as well as in exposing the students to the wants and needs of the elderly.
