Across Malaysia, governmental and private higher education institutions are increasingly providing Malay language classes for non-Malaysians. This scenario is further improved by the availability of the LMCW2193 Bahasa Melayu Komunikasi 2 course, which focuses on teaching international students the fundamentals of the Malay language.
Because of this, the Citra University Study Centre organised a course on teaching malay as a foreign language that focuses on equipping the instructors with knowledge of planning topics, creating a syllabus, using teaching techniques, and evaluating students. Dr. Daing Zairi Ma’arof served as the primary speaker for the two-day course on May 9 and 10, 2023, with Encik Amirul Mukminin serving as a co-speaker.
Participants from Taylor’s University, HELP University, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris attended the course in addition to the Bahasa Melayu Citra teaching team. It is hoped that the sharing and knowledge from the training would benefit the students’ linguistic abilities.
