SPONSORSHIP PURCHASE ELECTRONIC BOOK PROJECT
INTRODUCTION
- Electronic books are an important reference to the UKM’s citizens. Since 2012 until now, more than 800,000 full text download of electronic book collection Library of UKM were recorded.
- Therefore, Electronic Book Sponsorship Project is an initiative UKM’s Library using Endowment Fund Allocation worth RM500,000.00 as an advance for the purchase of electronic books sponsored by the university staff or external parties.
- Electronic books purchased by the UKM’s Library will be University proprietary rights (perpetual access).
SHORT LIST OF ELECTRONIC BOOKS FOR SPONSORED THEIR PURCHASING COST BY CONTRIBUTOR
- To facilitate the sponsors make a selection of electronic books, the Library has shortlisted the books that contain a title; author’s name; publisher’s name, Worldwide top download, Usage (UKM Turnaway) year of publication and USD price.
- The Electronic books offered consists of 8 subjects equal to 422 titles of e-book.
CONTRIBUTING METHOD
1.One-off cash
- Sponsor choose the e-books based on their interest. Refer to the list of electronic books in the provided subject (link);
- Sponsor complete the Application/Contribution Form and sent to the Library
- Sponsors make payment by cash/credit transfer into the account of UKM in the name of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (CIMB – 98945110301000) or;
- Sponsor make a donation by cash electronically using Contributions to UKM (Give2UKM) at the address https://give2ukm.ukm.my/
- Sponsor develop proof of contribution to the Library for further action. - Official receipt of the contributions provided by the Treasury Department;
- Access of electronic books is open to nationals of UKM after completion of the purchasing process.
2. Salary Deduction Scheme
- Sponsor choose the e-books based on their interest. Refer to the list of electronic books in the provided subject (link);
- Sponsor complete the Application/Contribution Form and sent to the Library
- UKM’s Treasury Department make deduction from the salary based on estimated cost of purchasing electronic books as well as total salary/schedule agreed. (Example: If the cost of purchasing electronic books is RM1, 200.00; and contributor make deduction from their salary over 12 months, the total salary is RM 100.00 per month).
- Monthly deduction salary Statement provided by the Treasury Department.
- Library make the process of purchasing electronic books
- Access of electronic books is open to nationals of UKM after completion of the purchasing process.
BENEFITS RECEIVED BY SPONSOR
- Donation exempt tax income under subsection 44 (6) of the income tax Act 1967 Ref. No. LHDN01/35/42/51/179-6, 1412 Effective Date: 27 November 1968 No. Government Gazette: 994 Date of Gazette; 30 March 1972.
- Name of contributor recorded in Online Public access catalog (OPAC) Library. (OPAC UKM library is accessible for free/open from around the world).
- Usage Data electronic books reported to the contributor.
- Other benefits based on Endowment Funds Policy UKM library.
