Student Pledging of Professionalism Ceremony is an annual event organised by the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) which involves all the Year 1 pharmacy students. The ceremony was held on 4th October 2021 through the ‘Zoom Cloud Meetings’ application. The aim of the Student Pledging Ceremony is to encourage and motivate all the Year 1 pharmacy students to study hard and follow all the rules to improve the reputation of the faculty. Besides, this event also gave a chance to Year 1 pharmacy students to familiarise with each other during ice breaking sessions.
The event started with a speech from the Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Madya Dr. Mohd Makmor Bakry. Then, Prof. Madya Dr. Mohd Hanif Zulfakar and Prof. Madya Dr. Ernieda Md Hatah shared some important information such as the number of credits needed to be taken in the semester so that the students would have a better understanding regarding the matter. After the sharing session, the ice breaking and Kahoot sessions were held before lunch time.
After lunch time, UKM-Karier-Ceramah Kerjaya (T.E.R.A.S) had been started. Prof. Madya Dr. Satirah Zainalabidin and Mr. Tan Yao Xiong had explained about properties in the UKM Karier test and analyzed which career is suitable for the students. After this session, PMFFar played a video about the facilities and environment of the faculty. The Faculty of Pharmacy also invited some alumni to have a sharing session about the career paths in pharmacy. Lastly, the first-year representative student led the pledge recitation and the event ended with a photography session.
From this event, students were able to understand their responsibility to study hard in order to become a successful pharmacist in the future.
