Minggu Apresiasi Watan is an orientation week designed to greet newly admitted students to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. It is a meticulously planned event that runs from the 1st of October 2023 to the 5th of October 2023. This initiative is carefully organized with activities with the purpose of creating an environment of warmth, camaraderie, and belonging among the incoming students. The session of students with faculty has been designated for the second day, specifically the 2nd of October 2023, for its program. It is scheduled to run from 8:00 a.m. until 4:45 p.m. at Dewan T1BE, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
The day begins as students are required to register from 8:00 a.m. until 8:30 a.m., a fundamental prerequisite before embarking on the day’s activities. To ensure that students start their day with vigour, a nourishing breakfast is provided. Subsequently, students engage in an ice-breaking session and explorace organized by Persatuan Mahasiswa Fakulti Farmasi, PMFFar. These activities are designed to acquaint students with one another, laying the foundation for their future relationships as classmates. The students engage in interesting station games as groups that require them to transition between different locations. Each station is overseen by a designated facilitator, which is a PC (Pemudah Cara) or a faculty lecturer.
Then, there is a break that allows students to partake in a midday meal in the company of their Mentor and Faculty of Pharmacy staff. This interlude provides an occasion for students to cultivate deeper connections and seek guidance. The programme resumes with a compelling speech from the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Mohd Bin Makmor Bakry. This is followed by a notable sealing ceremony, signifying the partnership between UKM and Alpro Pharmacy Sdn. Bhd. Afterwards, a representative from the company, Miss Chong Pay Yi delivered an appreciation speech, which was then continued with a photography session to capture these meaningful events. Furthermore, Alpro Pharmacy Sdn. Bhd. gives a sharing session led by Mr. Ostwin Paw where Mr. Paw got into the overview of Alpro Pharmacy Sdn. Bhd and highlights the scholarship opportunities they offer,
Following the sharing session, the program proceeded with “Apa Kata Alumni”, a segment featuring Miss Young Kai Sen, who is a UKM alumni. In her talk titled “Embracing Your Potential: Unleashing the Power within You”, Miss Kai Sen imparts motivational talks to the incoming first-year students. She draws inspiration from the movie “The Shawshank Redemption”, extracting valuable life lessons that can be applied within the context of pharmacy studies. Her talk serves to stimulate the students, igniting their enthusiasm and instilling them with a sense of purpose. As the talk finished, to conclude the events, prize-giving ceremonies were held to recognize and reward the new students for their active participation and achievements during the explorace. As the ceremony comes to a close, students are invited to enjoy a tea break before dispersing.
