‘Komuniti Diterokai, Khidmat Diberi’
The annual event OPKIM (Operasi Khidmat Masyarakat) which was held from 5th to 8th April 2018, at FELDA Chini Timur 1, Pahang, had successfully attracted many students to be part of this meaningful program. Kick-starting the event was an opening ceremony and followed by the distribution of students to their respective host families. The concept of adopting by host family had provided a platform for the pharmacy students to experience the residents’ lifestyle.
On the next day, the students were divided into 2 groups. Group A had visited the neighbourhood to carry out home medication review (HMR). During HMR, health screening test was carried out and students gave medication advices and knowledge about storage of drug to the residents. At the same time, Group B joined activities such as speech Perang Melawan Dadah, which was given by Dr. Tuan Mazlelaa Tuan Mahmood and explorace. These activities aimed to give motivation and raise awareness about the dangers of drug among primary school students. Apart from that, sport activities had been carried out among the residents and our students to strengthen their bond.
The event was wrapped up with closing ceremony launched by Dr. Adliah Mhd. Ali. This unforgettable experience offered our students the opportunity to adopt critical thinking skills and problem solving skills during organizing the activity. Hopefully such programme can be organized again in the future as it was a fabulous platform for our students to contribute in the field of community healthcare.
