27TH APRIL 2013 –With the objective to increase public awareness on health and medicine usage, the annual “Pharmacy Awareness” programme of Pharmacy Faculty, UKM was held at Aeon Big, Bukit Rimau on 27th and 28th of April 2013. On top of that, this event has provided the 3rd and 4th year students valuable experiences before reaching of their time of service to the public.
The event kicked off as early as 8am with the committee members setting up the various exhibitions. Topics covered in the exhibition included knowing your medicines or “Kenali Ubat Anda”, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, asthma and obesity. Last but not least, the pharmacy faculty of UKM. Registered pharmacists were also on duty to answer any enquiries by the public on their medicines. At 2 pm on Saturday, the opening ceremony for the event was held and officiated by our beloved Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Jantan. Throughout these two days, students worked hard to bring in visitors to the exhibition booths and explained the materials to them in order to achieve the objective. The blood pressure measurement service was most popular as many visitors especially the elderly keen to know their blood pressure. All in all, the event was a success. Kudos is credited to the organizing committee for their excellent job and special thanks to the pharmacy lecturers who are always willing to support the students’ activities of pharmacy faculty, UKM.
