One year has passed and it’s our Rx Quiz again!
4th National Pharmacy Quiz 2012/2013 was held at AIMST University from 1st to 3rd March 2013 with the theme “Coliseum for Intellects”. There were all together 11 teams from various universities participated in this grand annual event and undoubtedly including UKM! Three 4th year and two 2nd year excellent students were selected to represent our university to participate in this annual competition. They are Chandini Menon A/P Premakumar, Chan Phaik Chyun, Safiah, Leow Hon Lunn and Kee Ping Siu.
They registered upon arrived at AIMST University at around 9pm on 28th February. On the next morning, they gained the golden chance to visit the anatomy laboratory and observe the corpse as well before the opening ceremony started at 9am. The quiz consisted of four sessions with the first session being the writing test and the rest oral tests. The writing test was conducted for 45 minutes and participants were given 12 MCQ questions to answer. It’s proud to be announced that UKM managed to hit the highest marks in the first session. Preliminary Round 2 was based on 6 principles, which were Physiology, Chemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Technology, Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacy Practice. UKM was among the best 8 teams with the highest cumulative mark in the Preliminary Round 2 to enter Semi Final. The quiz format in Semi Final was diagram based and short-answer questions. AIMST, IIUM, UITM and USM were able to proceed to Final. USM appeared to be the Champion for National Pharmacy Quiz 2012/2013 and they were honored with PIALA TARIQ!
Our UKM team obtained lots of unforgettable experiences and extra knowledge from this event although they were unable to gain any prizes. Remember that “it’s all about journey, not the outcome”!
