The Pharmacy Awareness Program is held annually by the Faculty of Pharmacy UKM to increase awareness and promote better health management amongst the general public in Klang Valley. Mr. Kuan Chee Heng (NGO representative) connected the faculty with Persatuan Penduduk PPR Pinggiran Bukit Jalil. On 12th May 2018, the UKM Health Carnival was held at Projek Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) Pinggiran Bukit Jalil as part of this program with the cooperation and support from Persatuan Penduduk PPR Pinggiran Bukit Jalil. The program also involved collaboration with Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) through their involvement in sponsoring the beverages, tent and audio-visual support for the program. Several faculties from UKM, namely the Faculty of Pharmacy, the Faculty of Dentistry, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Faculty of Technology and Information Sciences, together with the Pharmaceutical Services Division, Ministry of Health (MOH) Malaysia were a part of this program. MOH contributed to the program through the ‘Kenali Ubat Anda’ initiative which aimed to increase medication awareness among the public.
Additionally, Home Medicines Review (HMR) was conducted as part of the program by pharmacists to ensure the safe use of medicines at home especially among chronic disease patients.
