Engagement (Industry/Community)
With her vast experiences in the development of biopolymers-based nanoparticles, she has been awarded recently with a research grant from the Malaysian Rubber Council (MRC) through the MRC Global Funding for Rubber Innovation (MRC GFRI). The project is related to the development of sustainable nanofungicides to control fungal diseases in selected rubber plantations in Malaysia. In collaboration with the Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB) and Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM), the developed nanofungicides will be evaluated for their safety, efficacy and sustainability.
In collaboration with Lignas Bio Synergy Plt., she has been awarded the JT Special Award in Tech-Planter Demo Day in Malaysia (2018) for the development of nanoparticles for Lignosus rhinocerus extracts. Recently, nanoparticles have been developed for chronic wound healing.
Research interest/focus (one paragraph, 1 figure to describe) & Research: link to Sarjana UKM (Scopus, linked-in, google scholar, Wos)
She is actively involved in research that explores drug delivery systems for therapeutic proteins and nucleic acids, particularly RNA interfering (RNAi)-based molecules such as small interfering RNA (siRNA) and Dicer-substrate siRNA (DsiRNA). The focus of her research is mainly on the development of nanoparticles based on chitosan and its derivatives as well as other biodegradable polymers.
