This program is for full time student and takes between 4 – 6 semesters.
This program is to combine the values of leadership, social responsibility, research, sponsorship, community service, ethical values, professionalism and knowledge generation. These values are validated in the curriculum design based on the stated learning outcomes.
In order to achieve learning outcomes, teaching – learning methods include activities that involve research studies:
The teaching – learning method is consistent with the curriculum where it involves weekly supervision, supervision reports every six months and continuous monitoring at the departmental level. This program involves research only. Therefore, candidates need to do laboratory work to complete their project.

Candidates are required to present research proposal papers for evaluation at the departmental level. This will follow by approval from the Ethics Committee before the end of the first semester.
Formative assessments include presentations, practicum exercises, written assignments and manuscripts for publication. Summative assessment involves the evaluation of theses and viva sessions conducted by external and internal examiners of UKM. Presentation and question and answer sessions during viva are conducted to assess the candidate’s ability in terms analyzing, interpreting and critically thinking on the research that has been conducted.
Scheduled seminars are held at least twice for each candidate at the middle and end of the study period. Candidates are required to attend all seminars held once a month. Candidates must also present TWO (2) papers at national OR international level scientific conferences. Candidates are also required to produce ONE (1) publication in a journal indexed by the Web of Science (WoS).
1. Bachelor of Science (Hons) with cumulative grade (CGPA) not less than 3.00 OR equivalent degree OR Medical Degree from a government-recognized institution of higher learning with a minimum grade for Physiology subject is grade B; OR
2. Candidates with a CGPA of less than 3.00 must have working experience with prospective supervisors in related fields for at least ONE (1) year.
3. Obtain a minimum score of 79-93 for TOEFL or Band 6.5 for IELTS for international students.
4. All international and self-funded applicants must show written proof of the financial status received either in the form of an active bank statement / financial institution or a letter of guarantee received.
5. Pass the admission test and interview at the department level.
