900 Optometrists Graduated From UKM Since 1982

KUALA LUMPUR, March 24, 2016 – Some 900 Optometrists had graduated from The National University of Malaysia (UKM) since Optometry was introduced in 1982, said Vice Chancellor, Prof Datuk Dr Noor Azlan Ghazali.
He said the alumni should give their best to serve the country, especially in the field of Optometry, which is a healthcare profession concerned with the eyes and related structures, as well as vision, visual systems, and vision information processing.
“When we learn about something, we see how it can be given back to society,” he said at the Optometry Alumni Dinner of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FSK), here recently.
He also expressed pride in meeting the alumni members, some of whom were not necessarily optomerists.
Apart from gathering most of the alumni, the dinner was held as a token of appreciation for members and awarding those who excelled in the profesion while contributing to society.
Among the awards presented were the for Entrepreneurship, Academic Development and Community Service.
Also present were Amir Husain, Former President of the UKM Optometry Alumni Association, and Prof Dr Baharuddin Omar, Dean of FSK.
