At FSSK, we prioritize quality, efficiency, and excellence in every aspect, including administration, teaching, and research
Catalysing and inspiring contemporary thinking in the formation of national civilisation
Creating an environment for the generation of refined knowledge to foster human development in line with national aspirations.
FSSK consists of six branches within the fields of social sciences and humanities, namely: media and communication; psychology and human well-being; language and linguistics; Malay literature and culture; history, politics, and international relations; and social development and environment.
The Faculty of Arts is one of the three earliest faculties established at UKM. The departments that currently exist include the Department of Malay Language and Literature, Department of Economics and Commerce, Department of History, Department of Geography, Department of Anthropology and Sociology, and the Language Units.
1970
The Faculty of Arts was restructured into the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSKK). Some departments, such as the Department of Economics and Commerce, were expanded into independent faculties.
1975 & 1976
New departments were established, such as the Department of Communication in 1975 and the Department of Political Science in 1976. The Department of Malay Language and Literature was upgraded to the Institute of Malay Language, Culture, and Literature (IBKKM), which is now known as the Institute of the Malay World and Civilisation (ATMA).
1976 - 1980s
On November 15, 2001, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSK) was formed through the merger of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSKK), the Faculty of Language Studies, and the Faculty of Development Science.
