Title : The network analysis and genre diversity of actors in Malay films.

Abstract : Analyzing a dataset of 180 Malay films released from 2015 to 2020, we construct an actor network by connecting actors who have co-films. This analysis uses five measures for evaluating actor quality: number of films (TFA), degree centrality (DC), strength centrality (SC), betweenness centrality (BC), and normalized Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (NHHI). TFA, DC, and SC reflect an actor’s experience in the industry. These measures shed light on an actor’s experience, popularity, social importance, and their ability to work across diverse film genres. Additionally, we explore the concept of the “Kevin Bacon” of the Malay film actor network by examining the average shortest path between actors and nominate the “Kevin Bacon” of Malay films.
