PROGRAM SUMMARY

Embark on a transformative Malaysian Legal Studies through postgraduate programme in Faculty of Law, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). The Graduate Studies Program consists of the Master of Laws (LLM) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programs. Both of these programs obtained approval from the Ministry of Education in 1996. The first group admitted to the Graduate Studies Program in this Faculty was during the first semester of the 1997-98 session. The students in this Graduate Studies Program come from both local and foreign countries.

CURRICULUM STRUCTURE

  1. Candidate is required to write thesis in Malay Language (for Malaysians) or English Language (for foreigners) unless a candidate receives special approval from the Faculty’s Postgraduate Committee.

  2. To complete the course of Legal Research Methodology UUUK6215 in the 1st Semester.

  3. To prepare a proposal under supervision of potential supervisor(s).

  4. To present a proposal as follows:
    • To present a Research Proposal in Semester 2 of studies.
    • To present a Research Progress Report in Semester 4/5of studies.
    • To present Research Finding BEFORE submission of thesis for examination.

  5. To publish 2 articles in WoS/Scopus indexed Journals; OR at least One (1) Journal under Scopus/WoS AND One (1) article from the following categories:
    • Journals under UKM Publisher and Faculty/Institute Journal;
    • Chapter in Book published by publisher listed under WoS or UKM Publisher or MAPIM

  6. The minimum and maximum number of words count for the Doctor of Philosophy thesis between 80,000 – 100,000 words NOT INCLUDING footnotes, quotations, attachments, formulas, tables, diagrams and so on.

  7. To submit a thesis as approved by the supervisors for evaluation at the end of studies
