The Master of Management is a full research programme that aims to impart advanced research knowledge and skills for candidates to complete their academic research in various areas of business management including finance and banking, marketing, human resource, organisational behavior, tourism and hospitality, operation management and innovation management. Research methodology courses is available during the first semester to develop their research competencies for the successful completion of this programme. Career opportunities in academia, public and private organisations as well as research institutions are possible upon successful completion of the course. Apart from expanding their understanding of research technique and its applications in the contemporary business world, this programme enhances not only students’ written and verbal communication but also their interpersonal skills and managerial decision-making abilities.

(includes Services Marketing, Customer Behavior, International Marketing, Product Innovation Marketing, Tourism and Hospitality Marketing)

Admission Requirements

Bachelor’s degree

1.Candidates have a Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the specialization with a good Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or any higher education institution recognized by the Senate and MQA;

i. CGPA of 2.75 and above (without working experience); or

ii. CGPA of 2.50 – 2.74 (with minimum of 2 years working experiences), or

iii. CGPA of 2.00 – 2.49 (with minimum of 5 years working experiences)

Candidates considered for (ii) and (iii) need to be interviewed.

Candidates need to prepare a brief research proposal.

2. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in a field unrelated to the specialisation need to achieve:

i. CGPA of at least 2.5; and minimum of two years of working experience in a field related to the specialisation.

Candidates considered in (i) above must be interviewed and pass the pre-requisite course.

Candidates need to prepare a brief research proposal for the purpose of determining the specialisation area and supervisor.

English

International applicants whose native language are not English or did not graduate from English medium institutions shall fulfil the English language requirements by obtaining:

  • IELTS 6.0 and above; or
  • TOEFL IBT 60 and above.

Dissertation's Language

  • The thesis must be written in Bahasa Melayu. Approval to write in English is granted subject to the following requirements:
  1. International student
  2. Scholarship requirements
  3. Employer needs
  4. Supervisors/examiners from abroad
  • For local students (Malaysians) who intend to write in English but do not fulfilled the second or third requirement above, UKM-GSB will assist by appointing the co-supervisor or/and external examiners from abroad.

Publication Requirement

1 article in a journal indexed by Scopus, WoS, WoS, ERA or MyCite or 1 book chapter published by local public university or publishers listed in WOS.

Student publications that are considered a condition for conferring a degree must meet the following criteria:

  • The publication is relevant to the student’s field of research: and
  • The publication must be completes within the  period of study of the student: and
  • Student publications shall be in collaboration with the university supervisor.
