The ASEAN Youth Volunteer Programme (AYVP) is a dedicated youth volunteerism platform that creates opportunities for knowledge-driven volunteerism, supports the exchange of learning experiences, develops capacity, enhances cross-cultural understanding and forges a sense of ASEAN identity while making a sustainable difference to communities across ASEAN.
The AYVP Secretariat is permanently based at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (The National University of Malaysia – UKM) under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia with the support of ASEAN Secretariat.
Since 2013, youths from across ASEAN have come together in small teams to respond to requested needs from local communities. The experience opens their minds to new livelihoods, perspectives, and cultures by working with the community and volunteers across ASEAN.
Therefore, AYVP supports the development of a generation of young people instilled with strong minds, solidarity, and kindness to contribute to the development of communities in the region.
AYVP works in partnership with diverse stakeholders from higher education institutions (HEIs), international non-governmental organizations (iNGOs), civil society organizations (CSOs), government agencies, inter-governmental organizations, and industries and foundations in order to achieve this goal.
AYVP focuses on one of its eight (8) thematic areas every year, where each theme is adopted twice before moving on to the next:
