DEPARTMENT'S BACKGROUND
INTRODUCTION
There are 7 academic staff, a research officer, 7 Medical Laboratory Technologists (JTMP), an Assistant Office Secretary, an Administrative Assistant and 2 Operations Assistants. Teaching and research activities in this department are implemented under seven laboratories supervised by lecturers. The laboratories are Community Research Laboratory, Genomics Laboratory, Proteomic Laboratory, Clinical Parasitology Laboratory, Entomology Laboratory, Insecticide Laboratory and Culture Laboratory.
The department is actively involved in the teaching and supervision of students in various levels of study, such as Diploma, Doctor of Medicine, Master’s Degree and Doctor of Philosophy. The department’s research activities focus on areas relevant to parasitic infections in Malaysia such as malaria, toxoplasmosis, trichomoniasis, microsporidiosis, intestinal protozoa, worms, forensic entomology, disease vectors and others.

To help the nation achieve optimal health standards for all by playing a role as a communicator, practitioner and generator of knowledge in the field of Parasitology and Medical Entomology to produce a health profession of caliber; exploring a diverse range of innovative research while consolidating its fundamentals, as well as contributing quality diagnostic services.
