Department of Medical Education
The Department of Medical Education (JPP) was established in 1989. The Department of Medical Education (JPP) was established as a leader in educational excellence of the Faculty of Medicine, UKM. This department is responsible for managing and coordinating the formulation and implementation of medical education curriculum and is a department directly involved in the development of the Faculty of Medicine curriculum.
The department is heavily involved in conducting workshops on curriculum content preparation, facilitation skills, teaching skills, curriculum evaluation, research, curriculum improvement, Medical Faculty PPD Camp, Standard Patient Program, e-Learning and administrators for academic and curriculum systems. The number of staff in this department is 21 people consisting of seven academic staff, three professional staff, 11 support staff and a research assistant.
The main mission of this department is to implement medical education initiatives to support the continuous learning of undergraduate and postgraduate students. While the vision of this department is to become a regional center of excellence in the field of medical education and a reference center for medical education and other health professionals.
In line with the development of the PPUKM Transformation Program, this department is also successful in this program. Several changes have been implemented from time to time such as upgrading cheerfulness, improving staff motivation and personality, updating documents and printed materials and so on.
In 2013, the department has undergone a restructuring process where the department is divided into two main parts, namely the Curriculum Implementation & Support Division and the Research & Excellence in Teaching Learning Division.
Among the main objectives of the restructuring of this department is to enhance excellence in research related to medical education, support undergraduate and postgraduate programs, enhance the knowledge and skills of medical lecturers and further recognize excellence in teaching and learning.
The department will continue to grow in the future in line with its mission and vision towards a center of excellence in medical education. The department always strives to implement the latest curriculum as well as to produce quality, moral and competitive medical lecturers and students at the university and international levels.
