Abstract
The literature reveals that work ethic is a paramount issue which affects organisational management and performance. This article aims to study the Islamic work ethics practices in JCorp. This article also aims to assess the benefits received as a result of Islamic work ethics practices at JCorp. This study was conducted using qualitative methods involving JCorp as a case study. Semi-structured interviews were used as the main data collection methods, which are in turn supported by data collection methods by examining the relevant documents. The JCorp’s top managers and executives were interviewed to examine Islamic work ethics practiced at JCorp and benefits received from it. The research findings showed that there were seven Islamic work ethics practiced in JCorp namely work was considered as worship to Allah SWT, discipline, trust, shura, justice, continuous improvement and vigor. Islamic work ethics practices has resulted significant benefits to JCorp’s workforce, to JCorp organisation itself and also to the public. Among the benefits are the development of workforce who demonstrate a high job commitment, providing opportunities for promotion, low staff turnover and loyal experienced workforces. Other benefits such as JCorp able to actively deliver social responsibility, including a program named Waqf An-Nur Clinics. Implementation of Islamic work ethics also helps JCorp in making huge profits in business, thus contributing to economic growth in the state of Johore and nation. This study shows that with the cooperation of management and employees, the Islamic work ethic has been successfully implemented in JCorp. The findings from this study can be employed as a guideline to managers in their endevour to practice Islamic work ethics effectively.
