Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment

For engineering and architecture programs at UKM, the MQF Manual and standards (EAC standard) and the Malaysian Architectural Education Accreditation Manual are the basis to ensure that the minimum requirements are met in accordance with the Washington Accord agreement for engineering studies and as a guide for higher education institutions to meet the minimum requirements for accreditation of architecture degree study programs. These standards and manuals outline the details for the accreditation of engineering and architecture programs in Malaysian institutions of higher learning (HEIs) for the accreditation of existing programs or newly proposed programs. The new standard, the improved EAC 2020 standard and the Architecture Accreditation Manual include outcome-based elements in the engineering and architecture curriculum and promote a culture of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) embedded in the development of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) in the Faculty of Engineering & Built Environment, UKM.

Outcome Based Education

Outcome Based Education (OBE) is a learning process and approach that focuses on Learning Outcomes, which are knowledge, skills and values ​​to be achieved by each student before and after graduation.

OBE was built based on three philosophies namely program design, teaching & learning and assessment. The transition from the traditional education system to OBE is important to empirically measure student performance based on Learning Outcomes.

In this curriculum, based on inputs collected from the stakeholders, the faculty has developed the following Programme Educational Objectives in order to be achieved by the graduates several years after graduation:

Engineering Knowledge

Apply knowledge of mathematics, natural science, engineering fundamentals, and engineering specialization as specified respectively to the solution of complex engineering problems.

Identify, formulate, conduct research literature, and analysis complex engineering problems using the first principles of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering sciences

Design/Development of Solutions

Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design systems, components, or processes with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal, and environmental considerations
