University Health Centre

The establishment of the Student Health Centre was determined through the Student Affairs Meeting on March 23, 1976. This center, which was initially one of the Units under the Student Affairs division, began functioning in 1978, located on Level 3, Administration Building (Chancellory). at that time, the workforce and organizational chart of the Center consisted of a Medical Officer assisted by a Nurse and a Hospital Assistant.

The main function of this centre is to manage and provide primary care services to campus residents, especially students of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia who are at the Bangi Main Campus.

Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) UKM

The Faculty of Medicine UKM was established in 1974 and the session begun with recruitment of the first group i.e. 44 students for the 1973/74 admission. The main campus was originally located at Jalan Pantai Baru, Lembah Pantai and later moved to ‘Bangunan Kayu’ at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital Complex (HKL).

On 20th February 2008, Faculty of Medicine and HUKM were merged to create an entity known as the UKM Medical Centre (Pusat Perubatan UKM) with the motto ‘Integrating Learning and Research for the Betterment of Society’. The transformation of these entities will allow functions and activities of separate institutions, faculties and hospital be coordinated and carried out more efficiently, improving the productivity and working methods. It will be able to ensure the administration and research activities be done better including the services it is offering. All these will further improve the performance of PPUKM as well as raising its position to be amongst preferred medical institutions which is respected at regional as well as international level.

Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM), PPUKM is the new name for Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia which was named after the DYMM Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir, Chancellor of UKM on 14 October 2014. This new branding, a recognition and pride of UKM staff towards having been an excellent teaching hospital for the Faculty of Medicine UKM (which was established in 1997) in producing specialists from various fields of medicine and health.

UKM Specialist Children’s Hospital

Tunku Ampuan Besar Tuanku Aishah Rohani Hospital, UKM Specialist Children’s Hospital is the first smart pediatric hospital in Malaysia and the second teaching hospital under UKM after Tuanku Muhriz Chancellor Hospital.

The HPKK development project was approved by the cabinet in 2010 under the Private Financing Initiative (PFI) involving the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT), the Public Private Partnership Unit (UKAS), the Prime Minister’s Department (JPM) and concessionaires. The concession agreement was signed on 22 August 2013. The groundbreaking ceremony was completed by the 6th Prime Minister of Malaysia on 23 August 2013 and construction began in May 2014.

HPKK which was built on a land area of 19.42 hectares, with a capacity of 243 beds and a 54-room hotel for public use officially received the building on 31 December 2020. On 1 March 2022, UKM Children’s Specialist Hospital was proclaimed as the Tunku Ampuan Besar Tuanku Aishah Rohani Hospital.

Starting with a total of 575 staff, HPKK has started operating in phases by accepting outpatients on March 15, 2022.

Satellite Hemodialysis Unit

Objective

Disability Support and Service Unit (UPS-OKU UKM)

OKU Service and Support Unit (UPSOKU) was established to be a platform for empowering disabled people at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) to achieve an excellent level of service and environment on the international stage. This unit is responsible for providing a support system according to the disability of individuals consisting of students, staff and visitors with disabilities at UKM. UKM aspires to empower the disabled and will be committed to strengthening the rights of this group.

This unit was established on 12 December 2019 under the Registrar’s Department with full supervision by the UKM Vice Chancellor. UKM has 23 disabled staff consisting of Academic, Management & Professional and Implementation Staff while the number of disabled students who are still actively studying at UKM is 49 people.

UKM Zakat Centre

The Zakat Division of the Treasurer’s Department was established as a result of the MoU between UKM and the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) in 2005. As a result of this MoU, two committees were formed that are responsible for managing zakat affairs at UKM, of which TAZUKM is the parent committee and JAZUKM is the zakat distribution committee.

Counseling Unit

UKM HEP Counseling Unit was established on 13/11/1973 and is under the Student Affairs Center, UKM.

Functions of the Counseling Unit:

  • Individual counseling and group counseling services
  • Carry out a healthy mind screening for all new UKM students
  • Managing the administration and interpretation of psychological testing tools
  • Implement crisis intervention for critical cases involving mental health
  • Manage and implement the human module development program based on a psychological approach that includes aspects of development, prevention, rehabilitation and intervention
  • Provide documentation, statistics and annual reports for each case handled

Sport Facility

The Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Sports Unit was established in 1974 and later upgraded to Sports Centre in 2009. It marked 44 years of its establishment to-date. In its early beginning, the Centre only had one personnel and it evolved continuously to its current capacity of 39 workforce with various grades.

The main roles of the Sports Centre are to manage sports programs involving High-Performance Sports as well as Mass Sports, administration and finance, Sports Science development, maintain and promote sports facilities to outsiders, financial generation, and managing of potential National athletes.

The Sports Centre also works as an advisor in how to organize a tournament and prepare related working papers.

The Sports Centre are not only focused on students but also UKM staff as well as off-campus communities. The role of the Sports Centre is always streamlined and expanded from time to time according to the current development of the nation’s sports through the Institutions of Higher Learning and the National Sports Development Programs.
