Flora Hunt Records Over 1000 Fraser Hill Native Plants
Bukit Fraser’s ‘Flora Hunt’ program on Saturday 28 September 2024 was lively with the presence of nearly 100 participants and members of the public who did not miss the opportunity to track the various trails in Bukit Fraser. This program has successfully recorded and named more than 1000 native plants found throughout the highlands. This program organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF)-Malaysia, with the support of CIMB Islamic Bank and Tourism Pahang is one of the ongoing efforts to raise awareness about the importance of preserving biological diversity in our country.
Bukit Fraser Research Center (PPBF), ALAF-UKM which has been based here since 1990 has also been invited to be a consultant and assessor for this program. Also present was the Director of ALAF-UKM, Prof. Associate Dr. Wan Mohd Aizat Wan Kamaruddin and Head of the PPBF Laboratory, Dr Shamsul Khamis. Hopefully with this effort, we can fuel the cultivation and care of the sustainability of nature for a more sustainable future.
