Summit of Asian Universities 2024 organized by Times Higher Education (THE AUS’ 24)
Chairman of UKM’s Board of Directors, Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Mohamad Abd. Razak and Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dato’ Mr. Ts. Dr. Mohd Ekhwan Hj. Toriman attended the opening ceremony of the Asian Universities Summit 2024 organized by Times Higher Education (THE AUS’ 24) which was held at Sunway University this morning.
This program was inaugurated by the Minister of Higher Education, Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abd Kadir. In his opening speech, he emphasized that the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) always prioritizes the success of students and ensures that each university remains focused on its own excellence. At the same time, YB Minister also recognized the ranking in the national higher education ecosystem, especially to increase competition and continuous improvement.
Besides that, the ranking will also be a benchmark among higher education institutes on the local or global stage to increase the prominence of cooperation and collaboration. After the inauguration, Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry also spent time entertaining Sunway University students in the cafeteria.
He also witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between Sunway University and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) to develop Sunway University’s Doctoral Medicine program which is expected to further strengthen the country’s health sector.
This collaboration involves the establishment, implementation and monitoring of the Doctoral Medicine program at the School of Medicine and Life Sciences, Sunway University where UKM will provide the syllabus and relevant study materials for this program for a period of six years.
The Vice-Chancellor thanked all parties, especially the Ministry of Higher Education, who always provided support and support in further boosting the excellence of the country’s higher education.
He is also optimistic that the collaboration between UKM and the country’s leading IPTS such as Sunway University will open a new era in ensuring that high-quality education services can be achieved as best as possible.
