SDG 1 – NO POVERTY

End poverty in all its forms everywhere

SDG 1 Indicator

1.4 – Community anti-poverty programmes

1.4.3 – Programmes for services access

Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) actively organizes various training programs and initiatives to enhance access to essential services on campus, ensuring the well-being of both students and staff. One notable initiative is the KPT-Prihatin Komuniti Sejahtera (KRIS) program, in collaboration with Yayasan Basmi Kemiskinan (YBK), Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) UKM, and other partners. This program, held at PPR Lembah Subang, focuses on providing health services such as medical check-ups for underprivileged households, along with donations and guidance on improving health management.

Another key effort is the launch of innovative health products, such as the FaIISA 2.0 android application, MindLumina health supplement, and TIPPI 3-in-1 drink, developed by UKM’s Faculty of Health Sciences in partnership with industry collaborators. These products aim to promote healthy aging and improve access to health services on campus and beyond, empowering the local community to enhance their overall quality of life.

KPT-Prihatin Komuniti Sejahtera (KRIS) and Jelajah Sejuta Harapan YBK Programme

Yayasan Basmi Kemiskinan (YBK) together with Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) and JKM PPR Lembah Subang 1 Volunteers have organized the KPT-Prihatin Komuniti Sejahtera (KRIS) and Jelajah Sejuta Harapan YBK Programme at PPR Lembah Subang 1 in June 2023.  The programme at the Block D Hall began at 10 a.m. where HTCM had opened a health check-up counter in which 100 selected heads of underprivileged households had undergone basic health examinations as well as receiving donations of necessities and lunches. This program enables them to conduct screenings to detect any health risks and take the necessary steps to manage and change their lifestyles. YBK has opened a second-hand clothing counter for participants who are present to choose clothes if needed and serve inquiries from the participants.

These three products are the result of the innovation of H-Care researchers Prof. Dr. Devinder Kaur Ajit Singh for mobile applications and Prof. Dr. Suzana Shahar, a dietician and the support of industry commercial partners Pantai Integrated Rehab Sdn Bhd, Aurora Health Sdn Bhd and ODO Solution Sdn. Bhd. These products focus on promoting healthy aging and quality of life. The innovations are designed to support active lifestyles, boost mobility, and improve overall health management among the elderly. By focusing on tailored health solutions, UKM helps to empower seniors, allowing them to remain engaged in daily activities and maintain their independence.
