Dialogue on “Implementing Decent Work Agenda in Sabah’s Palm Oil Sector”

On September 29, 2022, the Faculty of Economics and Management at UKM hosted a significant Dialogue on Implementing the Decent Work Agenda in Sabah's Palm Oil Sector. The event featured a distinguished panel comprising representatives from the Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities, Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB), International Labour Organization (ILO), FGV Holding Berhad, and Sabah's Jurisdictional Certification Steering Committee (JCSC). The dialogue provided a platform for stakeholders to share insights and discuss the challenges facing the palm oil industry in Sabah, with a particular focus on implementing the Decent Work Agenda.

The dialogue witnessed active participation from various relevant agencies, including MPOB, MPOC, PORAM, IOI Corporation Berhad, The Palm Oil Refiners Association of Malaysia, Briar Resources Sdn Bhd, and educational institutions from both public and private higher education sectors. Through collaborative discussions and sharing of experiences, participants addressed pertinent issues within the Sabah palm oil sector, aiming to identify solutions and strategies for promoting decent work practices and ensuring sustainable development within the industry. Overall, the dialogue served as a vital platform for fostering collaboration and advancing efforts towards achieving decent work standards in Sabah's palm oil sector.
