International Women’s Day Celebration
The Institute for Environment and Development (LESTARI) of the National University of Malaysia; OWSD-Malaysia National Chapter (Under UNESCO), and Women’s Core of Bangladeshi Expat Community (BDEXPAT) have jointly organised an event celebrating International Women’s Day, on March 11 at G Tower, Kuala Lumpur. The organizing Chair of this event was Dr. Lubna Alam, Fellow, LESTARI, UKM; Executive Member of OWSD-Malaysia National Chapter and Executive Member of Women’s Core, BDEXPAT.
The Chief guest of the event was Madam, Farhana Ahmed Chowdhury, Counsellor (Political) and Head of Chancery of Bangladesh High Commission, Malaysia. The Special Guests were Prof Ts Dr Lim Yang Mooi, President OWSD-Malaysia National Chapter and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tanot Unjah, Deputy Director of the International Relations Centre and Senior Fellow, LESTARI, National University of Malaysia.
The event was designed to celebrate the international women’s day through appreciating the contribution of women in our community and inspiring each other. Moreover, an awareness rising workshop on cybersecurity for the women users of digital platform has been conducted. Overall, the event served as a platform of networking between women achievers from various background, diverse countries and different thoughts.
