UKM Adopts A National School In Johor

KOTA TINGGI, JOHOR, 1 July 2016 – The National University of Malaysia (UKM) has declared a National School in Johor as an adopted school for five years as of 2015 until 2020.
Executive Director of the of the UKM Administration, Abd Razak Hussin said the aim is to help the disadvantaged community in which the Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Nam Heng serves.
“The UKM community came together help this school because we think that this school needs help. So, I asked the organisers to invite representatives from the faculties to come here and determine the kind of support we can give,” he said in his speech at the UKM-SKNH Breaking of Fast gathering here, last June 18.
At the event, UKM through the Zakat Unit contributed RM5,000 to SK Nam Heng.
Some 27 students and 33 residents at the Nam Heng Estate received the contribution from the UKM Zakat Unit.
He also thanked the Zakat Unit for making available the financial support for the school and the community at the plantation.
“Of course, this function wouldn’t have been possible without strong financial support from the Zakat Unit. I hope that the relationship between UKM and SK Nam Heng will always be strong,” he emphasised.
Meanwhile, the Headmaster of SK Nam Heng, Kamaruddin Asrap said the assistance from UKM will contribute to efforts to strive for academic excellence.
“Apart from that, the community in the vicinity of the school will benefit from this cooperation,” he said.
He expressed hope that the cooperation will continue and the school and local community will be able have even more successful students in that estate.
“Contributions are very valuable because we will not be able to do something special without this major donation,” he said.
Deputy Head of UMNO Tebrau Division, Abdul Aziz Tohak expressed appreciation for UKM choosing the village school in Johor as an adopted school
“UKM is in Bangi, Selangor, but they came to this village. What is important is the relationship between UKM and the authorities in this area,” he declared.
