249 Athletes to Represent UKM in SUKUM 2016

BANGI, 5 August 2016 – The National University of Malaysia (UKM) will be sending 249 athletes to the Sukan Kakitangan Antara Universiti (SUKUM) 2016 which will be held at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia from 6 until 13 August.
UKM Vice Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Noor Azlan Ghazali said the athletes representing UKM will be participating in the 20 sports contested.
“If last year we were in fifth place, I hope with to the increase number of athlete, we can get a better placing,” he said at the handing over of SUKUM Flag here, yesterday.
He said sports is an important element in UKM and the athletes representing UKM have to shoulder a big responsibility.
“Your willingness to represent UKM is a great contribution to the university and it is highly appreciated,” he said.
Meanwhile, Director of UKM Sports Centre, Prof Madya Dr Tajul Arifin Muhamad said 35 officers will be accompanying the athletes to SUKUM 2016.
“The athletes have been training at UKM and I hope they are will be in good health during competition,” he said.
Among the sports that will be contested is cycling, badminton, basketball, football, volleyball, chess, darts, futsal and athletics.
