SUBANG JAYA, 13 October 2016 – UKM continues its effort in promoting understanding among global communities and especially ASEAN through the 7th Asian Translation Traditions Conference (AAT7), recently.
The AAT7 focuses on the use and mastery of language in ASEAN to increase understanding, especially among students in higher educational institutions.
“One of our key strategy is to ensure that ASEAN languages are common language (often heard) in Malaysia higher education institutions,” said UKM Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Industry and Community Partnership, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Imran Ho Abdullah at the AAT7, held in Monash University Malaysia, recently.
He said the conference is in line with UKM’s efforts to promote understanding of global communities while still upholding local traditions and culture.
“UKM has significant interest in contributing to the translation field as a way to establish a platform for a culturally-diverse global society at the university,” he said.
He said the organizing of ATT7 is also a good testimony of collaboration between Public and Private University in organizing an international conference.
“This is in line with the Malaysia Higher Education blueprint which highlight on creating a synergy between public and private institution.
“It is my hope that there will be many more collaborations between UKM and Monash in the future,” he said.
