BANGI, 20 April 2015 – All National University of Malaysia (UKM) staff need to be in a comfortable working environment to increase productivity.
Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student and Alumni affairs), Prof Datin Dr Noor Aziah Mohd Awal said optimising the working environment will boost work productivity.
“A conducive environment will help us improve quality of service and create optimum space usage as well as a work-place that is cleaner, tidier and safer,” she said when launching the Premium Quality Environment System (SPB) Awareness Campaign of UKM’s Quality Service Management System (SPKP), and a clean-up gathering on 18 April.
She said with the implementation of this system, UKM can provide swifter services at and save time at all counters or offices.
“Fast, efficient and effective management should be applied as a culture because it is the main UKM agenda to enhance customer satisfaction.
“I hope you understand it and always apply this system, because the consequences will enhance the reputation of the UKM community with better commitment from all staff,” she explained.
She also mentioned that the Self-Auditing SPB’s 5S system is a form of long-term investment to ensure UKM continues to meet the challenges and expectations of the stake-holders and make the university a model for other public universities.
She hoped that with this implementation, UKM will realise the objective of obtaining the coveted ISO certification this year.
There are nine categories in the execution of the SPB’s 5S by every department , namely implementation, office space, work space/executive’s office, production, storage places or stores, public areas, surroundings, human resource capacity and security.
