Hitachi-GE Japan Renews Agreement with UKM

BANGI, 10 August 2016 – Hitachi-GE Nuclear Energy LTD (Hitachi-GE) from Japan, had renewed the agreement with The National University of Malaysia (UKM) to conduct an international human resource development programme to train high-quality personnel for the nuclear power industry.
The course is aimed to enhance nuclear energy research and the expertise of institutions involved in the nuclear energy industry in Malaysia.
According to a press release issued by Hitachi-GE, the programme which will be carried out, will take advantage of the courses that had been conducted with the Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech) for a period of five years.
The course is targeted for students who wish to focus on nuclear energy in Malaysia as well as researchers and other institutes involved with the nuclear energy industry in Malaysia.
The course will cover issues such as safety measures and the importance of the three principles for the peaceful used of the nuclear energy.
Malaysia in a planning to introduce nuclear energy to diversify its sources of electric power as part of the Economic Transformation Programme which aims to become a developed nation by 2020.
