PENANG, 29 December 2016 – UKM Communication Students did the university proud when they received awards in three categories at the recent Immersion Project, Appreciation and Tribute programme (IMPACT16), held at Universiti Sains Malaysia, recently.
Ahmad Afiq Hashim emerged as the winner of the public speaking category while Nasya Nasseira Nassier and Nur Syamimi Syahira were both awarded second and third place, in the feature writing category.
The main goal of the event was to ignite the spirit of togetherness within the community regardless of one’s race, custom, culture or language by showcasing the students work to the media industry and the public.
The programme also aims to become a platform for communication and media students from higher learning institutions locally and abroad to meet, share experience and learn from one another.
IMPACT16 is an opportunity for students to showcase and test their creative abilities using the knowledge that they have attained said USM Pro-Chancellor YBhg. Tan Sri Datuk Mustafa Mansur at the opening ceremony.
This year, participants from UKM, USM, KDU Penang University College and University of Islamic Science Malaysia competed against one another.
Not only locally, the competition has also extended beyond Malaysian borders, with the participation of communication school teams, including those from Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta and Universitas Pancasila.
The competition was grouped into eight different categories which were feature writing, public speaking, photography, short video, best university newspaper, best university magazine, video advertising and communication campaign.
