BANGI, 21 March 2017 – The Ministry of Communication and Multimedia (KKMM), through Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), blocked 32 pages and 72 links which disseminated ideologies related to Daesh.
KKMM Deputy Minister, Dato’ Jailani Johari said MCMC has taken proactive steps by blocking the social media links which were found to disseminate negative propaganda.
“With a total of 20.6 million internet users in this country, and 16 million of whom are active users, it proves that people today are more likely to use social media to spread propaganda including the Daesh terrorist groups and paedophilia,” he said to the media after launching the Majlis Bual Bicara isu-isu Semasa 2017, in UKM, recently.
The ceremony also saw him launching the Malaysian Journal of Communication online system.
Also present at the ceremony were UKM Pro Vice-Chancellor of Income Generation and Infrastructure, Prof. Dr. Nor Ghani Md Nor and Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities Dean, Prof. Dr Ekhwan Toriman.
