MESRA@UKM – Innovative App that Empowers New Students
BANGI, 18 August 2018 – It will be an interesting week for new UKM students.
UKM recently introduced an innovative app for its new students who will be registering this September.
The app, MESRA@UKM, marks UKM’s transition from a conventional orientation week to a digitalized one that empowers the freshies, in line with the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
“Unlike the previous Minggu Mesra Mahasiswa which sees new students being guided by facilitators and have to go through a program which has been planned from them, MESRA@UKM, will enable students to take charge of their own orientation week,” explained UKM Vice-Chancellor Prof Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Noor Azlan, adding that they can access the Minggu Mesra Mahasiswa schedule and the specific location, UKM’s map and bus schedule.
Prof Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Noor Azlan said that this is a good opportunity for students to really explore the campus, find their way around UKM and train them to meticulously plan their own orientation schedule.
In addition, this app is also the key platform for students to upload their self-introduction video, pictures during the Minggu Mesra Mahasiswa and interviews with UKM alumni. The app, which was developed by UKM students from the Faculty of Information Science and Technology, can be downloaded through Google Playstore and App Store.
Earlier, Associate Professor Dr. Roslee in his speech said that the app was created specifically for UKM new students.
The MESRA@UKM app was launched recently at the Persada Canseleri by UKM Vice-Chancellor, Prof Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Noor Azlan Ghazali. Also present were Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) of Students and Alumni Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Roslee Rajikan and DVC of Academic and International Affairs, Prof. Dato’ Ir. Dr. Mohd Marzuki Mustafa.
More than 3,600 students are expected to register in UKM this coming September.
