New students adviced to instill the spirit of Jiwa UKM – Prof Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr Noor Azlan Ghazali

BANGI, 8 September 2017- Students must incorporate the spirit of Jiwa UKM throughout their tenure as UKM students, said UKM Vice-Chancellor Prof Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr Noor Azlan Ghazali.
He said students who were selected to study at UKM, need to have the same mission, namely to ensure that Malaysia continues to be a country that is excellent, developed, and prosperous in all contexts.
“You need to know that UKM was built based on the aspiration of Malaysian society.
“So, your presence in UKM is important as it is a responsibility that has been entrusted by the people in Malaysia.
“Thus, I hope, you will have the spirit of Jiwa UKM, deep within your hearts,” he said at the Pendaulat Amanah Negara and New Students Pledge session 2017/2018, recently.
“So, starting now, you need to think of who you are, what is your strength, what will you do to ensure when you finish your study and what is your red umbrella?,” he added.
Prof Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr Noor Azlan said he wanted all the students to excell in everything they do.
He congratulated the students from the 2017/2018 intake and hoped they will achieve excellence in UKM.
The event continued with the Pledge Ceremony by more than 4000 new students.
Also present the ceremony were Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) of Students and Alumni Affairs; Prof Dato’ Noor Aziah Mohd Awal, DVC of Industry and Community Partnerships; Prof Dato’ Dr Imran Ho Abdullah, DVC of Research and Innovation Affairs; Prof Dr Mohd Ekhwan Toriman and DVC of Academic and International Affairs, Prof Dato’ Ir Dr Riza Atiq Abdullah OK Rahmat.
