BANGI, Mac 2, 2016 – The Higher Education Ministry has launched Projek Berdikari which will provide part-time job opportunities to students.

The programme, launched by Higher Education Minister, Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh,  is a platform that gives flexible job experience to students based on their own field of studies.

Idris said the project not only lists the job vacancies for students, but also catalogues the scholarships available  and competitions of ‘learning outside  the classroom’.

“Beside to generate income, they also can get experience through this programme,” he said to reporters after a town-hall meeting with university student leaders, here   on 29 Feb.

He expressed hope the project can help undergraduates cope with the increased cost of living in addition to training them to be more disciplined and self-reliant.

The Malaysian Youth Community (MYC) programme also allows employers to evaluate the work performance and obligations of the students.

The jobs offered to the students are part-time and temporary lasting from three hours, three months and one year.

Idris also presented 1Malaysia Book Vouchers (BB1M) to student leaders representing their institutions.

Also present were the Deputy Minister, Datuk Mary Yap Kain Ching, the Chief   Secretary Datuk Dr Zaini Ujang, and Vice Chancellor of UKM Prof Datuk Dr Noor Azlan Ghazali.ukmnewsportal-eg
