KUALA LUMPUR, 8 December 2016 – UKM Chief Information Officer Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohamed Amin Embi received an Excellent in Distance Education Award for Distance Materials at the Commonwealth of Learning ceremony in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, recently.

This is the second time that Prof. Dr. Mohamed Amin’s effort in producing Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), Rethinking Teaching, Redesigning Learning, was acknowledged at an international level.

He said he was very thankful to be given the prestigious award as it is only given out every three years.

“The award acknowledges the design of the MOOC I developed, which is by using existing educational resources.

“I spent about two weeks to curate the videos which are suitable to be used for my course,” he explained.

To date, the Rethinking Teaching, Redesigning Learning MOOC has attracted more than 4,100 students from more than 108 countries.
