Satellite Office gives new perspectives to Research at PPTC

BANGI, 26 October 2016 – The recently launched satellite office at the Chini Lake Research Centre (PPTC), UKM will help unravel new perspectives on research about the lake.

Head of PPTC UKM, Prof. Dato’ Seri Dr. Mushrifah Idris said the satellite office was strategically placed in this area because of the position awarded by UNESCO in 2009, as a biosphere reserve.

She added that UKM’s research is in line with UNESCO’s stand in areas such as conservation, research and community participation.

She said besides the satellite office, PPTC also has several labs which specialises on hydrology, climatology, microbiology and water quality.

“All labs plays an important role in carrying experiments and research concerning conservation and preservation of the environment.

“We want to share this knowledge to the younger generation, not only to UKM community, but to communities in this area,” she explained.

PPTC also has a gallery that showcases the history of the establishment of the research centre.

Prof. Dr Mushrifah said the gallery also showcases the success obtained by PPTC researchers.ukmnewsportal-eg
